Joe A Perez, affectionately known as "Big Joe," passed away on January 14, 2025, at the Hines VA Hospital. Born on August 2, 1947, in Pharr, Texas, Joe lived a life marked by dedication, love, and service to others.
A proud veteran, Joe served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Vietnam. After his military service, he pursued a career as a paper worker with the local union 1085, where he was admired and respected by his peers for his hardworking nature.
Joe was characterized by his loving fatherly presence, welcoming demeanor, and caring attitude. His family, which includes his wife Christina (nee Trejo), children Tina Marie Perez, Joseph Perez, and Lisa Perez, as well as their spouses David and Dan, and his cherished grandchildren Alexander Perez, Jessica Perez, Victoria Perez, Jacob Duszak, and Sophia Duszak, established the backbone of his life.
He is survived by his brothers Serjo Perez, accompanied by his wife Helen, and Ruben Perez and sister-in-law Lucia and Stephanie. Joe was a friend to many, and the impact he made on the lives of those around him will not be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his father Hermenegildo Perez, mother Petra Perez (nee Faz), and several siblings: Guadalupe Perez, Maria Alvarado, and brother-in-law Fecundo Alvarado, Will Perez, Rosalinda Flores with brother-in-law David Flores, and Hermengildo Perez Jr.
Joe A Perez's visitation will take place on January 23, 2025, from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at McKenzie Funeral Home, located at 15618 S Cicero Ave in Oak Forest, Illinois.
In remembrance, we celebrate a life that was lived fully and generously, marked by deep connections, significant contributions to his community, and an everlasting legacy of love.

Visitation At McKenzie Funeral Home on January 23 at 3pm, Prayer service on January 24 at 9:15am with a mass to follow St Augustine 10am and Burial at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at 12:30pm.
