Robert Marquardt, a beloved member of the Oak Forest community, passed away on January 8, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on January 15, 1935, in Chicago, Robert was a person of great kindness, known for his generous spirit and great sense of humor.

Robert proudly served in the Army National Guard, exhibiting a dedication to his country that instilled a sense of pride in his family. His career spanned many years as a maintenance worker for Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, where he was appreciated not only for his work ethic but also for his warm interactions with colleagues and patients alike.

Throughout his life, Robert held a deep appreciation for numerous hobbies and interests. He was an avid fan of wrestling and had a profound love for astronomical events, fondly remembering the extraordinary experience of witnessing the 2024 Eclipse in Indianapolis.

One of Robert’s proudest accomplishments was participating in the Walk Across America challenge, a feat that exemplified his commitment to staying active and engaging with the community. Additionally, he served as a committed member of the Senior Commission of Oak Forest, showing his dedication to improving the lives of his fellow residents.

Robert is survived by his son, Jerry Marquardt, his grandson, Elie, and his brother, Walter Marquardt. He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Marquardt, his son, Robert Marquardt, his mother, Claire Marquardt, his father, Walter Marquardt, his sister, Joan Pazda, and his brother, John Marquardt.

The visitation for Robert Marquardt will take place at McKenzie Funeral Home, located at 15618 S Cicero Ave, Oak Forest, IL, 60452, on January 17, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Robert's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, cherished as a gentleman of generosity, humor, and kindness.
